It is true, that the epidemiology and hygiene issues are present in hitherto literature of the subject, however a closer look at the studies shows that many elements have been presented too superficially, or even omitted. The research gaps are connected with individual cities, which did not live to see their own epidemiological descriptions, and also with not broad enough handling of the subject-matter, which manifests itself in usually frugal content-wise research questionnaires. The most well-researched centre of Royal Prussia in terms of hygiene and emidemiology is undoubtedly Gdańsk. Despite that, even in the case of Gdańsk, the state of the research should be regarded as unsatisfactory. The writings on two other big cities of Royal Prussia: Elbląg and Toruń, are much less extensive. Only compiling individual elements will allow for a comprehensive estimation of a real level of hygiene and epidemiological status in the cities of Royal Prussia, as well as the path of their modification by the modern society. It will allow us to verify the common, often not supported by any research, current opinions on this subject."]]]],["element",{"elementId":"49"},["name","Subject"],["description","The topic of the resource"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"224"},["text","Studia"]]]],["element",{"elementId":"44"},["name","Language"],["description","A language of the resource"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"225"},["text","pl"]]]]]]]],["item",{"itemId":"121","public":"1","featured":"0"},["collection",{"collectionId":"8"},["elementSetContainer",["elementSet",{"elementSetId":"1"},["name","Dublin Core"],["description","The Dublin Core metadata element set is common to all Omeka records, including items, files, and collections. The consecutive stages of its practical implementation were anthropological examinations, mass sterilization for eugenic reasons and the euthanasia programme. Racist trends started to rise at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, which resulted in creation of numerous racist and anti-Semitic works. The policy of negative eugenics was very diversified in the past, ranging from mass segregation in the United Stated through mass sterilization in Sweden to extermination of population in the Third Reich. Experiments into mass sterilization were performed during the war by Carl Clauberg and Horst Schumann, mainly in Auschwitz and Ravensbrück, to a limited extent in other camps. The longest eugenic programme was implemented in Sweden, which became the first country where racial hygiene acquired the status of official science and institutional base supported by the state. Compulsory sterilization procedures were performed in that country until the 1970s. The Scandinavian countries took up the most advanced pursuits of legalization of sterilization on the European continent. The final stage of implementation of the extermination programme was euthanasia, the aim of which was to kill people unworthy of living. The Euthanasia Action was code – named T – 4, later, when it was transferred to concentration camps, its code name was changed to 14 f 13. The task was commissioned to him by king Stephen Bàtory (Polish: Stefan Batory) who wanted to consult his court physician about the effi cacy of bath therapy, today practiced at spas. Educated at home and abroad, the doctor approached the assignment with due diligence and wrote the book in which he presented the ancients’ opinions on balneotherapy, listed a range of foreign and domestic hot springs, and explained how thermal waters could be applied in practice. He also described the effect of thermal waters on the human body as well as the complications which could result from using them in treating internal and external diseases. Oczko indicated which ailments could be cured with balneotherapy and how it should be applied to achieve maximum effects. He also provided many signifi cant technical details pertaining to the use of waters in therapy and recipes for various kinds of medicine based on thermal waters. Accroding to Oczko, it is worth applying balneotherapy both as complementary therapy and as basic treatment when other methods have failed and there is no hope of recovery for the patient. The purpose of this paper is to acquaint the contemporary reader with the medical knowledge of balneotherapy as it was 400 years ago, relying on a direct account of a Polish Renaissance physician. It was observed that previous treatment methods could lead to the serious and varies complications. Bacteriological researches on “fresh wounds” were carried out by, among others, Pierre Delbet in Paris, Albert Policard in Lyon, Ludwik Aschoff in Fribourg and Läwen together with Hesse in Munich. According to their works changed not only the outlooks on wounds but also the ways of its treatment. First of all, they recognized all war wounds as infected wounds. Their conditions were depended on the kind of germ, its amount in the wound and human immunity. In the beginning of 1915, the “dèbridement” method was started to practice. That method was that they opened the recess in the wound to cleanse it. After cleansing wound, further conduct was depending: on the time from inflicting it and time of transport, on the certainty that the wound was completely cleansed and on the favourable conditions which allowed observing patients for a period of five days. Cutting wound required from surgeon good knowledge of human anatomy, precise operating technique and a lot of experience. In Polish army, during the 1920 war, the cutting method practiced Władysław Sieramski and Michał Latkowski. In the interwar period, Tadeusz Sokołowski was an initiator of introducing the method of cutting wounds."]]]],["element",{"elementId":"49"},["name","Subject"],["description","The topic of the resource"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"397"},["text","Anachronica"]]]],["element",{"elementId":"44"},["name","Language"],["description","A language of the resource"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"398"},["text","pl"]]]]]]]],["item",{"itemId":"129","public":"1","featured":"0"},["collection",{"collectionId":"8"},["elementSetContainer",["elementSet",{"elementSetId":"1"},["name","Dublin Core"],["description","The Dublin Core metadata element set is common to all Omeka records, including items, files, and collections. However, the intensification of these actions took place only in the years 1922-1923. That was mainly due to the ongoing military actions in 1920, which interrupted the organizational works at the University. That situation was influenced by the shortage of scientific staff caused, among others, by their participation in fights and evacuation from the city. \r\n\tAs one of the first institutions of this type, the clinic and department of neurology, was intended to be established already in 1919, while the position of its head was going to be entrusted to Dr. Stanisław Karol Władyczko. However, it was succeeded only at the end of January 1923 conferring the title of Professor to Dr. S.K.Władyczko. It resulted from difficult conditions, including financial ones, as well as the lack of appropriate rooms intended for clinical use. A similar situation concerned other established scientific units which are discussed in the article. The author attempts to depict the great effort of establishing and functioning Vilnius clinics and departments in the first period of the Medical Faculty of that University in the eastern parts of Poland in the interwar period mainly on the basis of sources of both National Archive in Vilnius (Lietvas centrinis volstybes archywas) and Polish Special Collections of Main Medical Library. \r\n\r\n \r\n"]]]],["element",{"elementId":"49"},["name","Subject"],["description","The topic of the resource"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"791"},["text","Prace Analityczne"]]]],["element",{"elementId":"44"},["name","Language"],["description","A language of the resource"],["elementTextContainer",["elementText",{"elementTextId":"792"},["text","pol"]]]]]]]],["item",{"itemId":"36","public":"1","featured":"0"},["fileContainer",["file",{"fileId":"36"},["src","https://medycynanowozytna.locloud.pl/files/original/bc977b27995d05acbf7f26fb40a8fb9e.pdf"],["authentication","a51ce6d4ec0b03fd50e84e68cc2a1ab6"]]],["collection",{"collectionId":"2"},["elementSetContainer",["elementSet",{"elementSetId":"1"},["name","Dublin Core"],["description","The Dublin Core metadata element set is common to all Omeka records, including items, files, and collections. Although the first of them know as „Primitiae Physico-Medicae” has its own bibliography, its content was successfully supplemented with certain facts concerning the editorial and formal side of the magazine. However, the remaining two achievements of 18th century-editors are hardly mentioned even in the specialist medical literature, let alone other general studies in the history of science. It appears though that both schemes, the one being only partially covered and the other not exceeding the project, deserve equal attention. The former scheme dating back to 1792 and coming from Grodno, whose editor was to be „the Doctor of Physic and Surgerye” yet unfamiliar de Neyen, fell through despite being addressed to a wide circle of recipients and disregarding its well-announced attractive subscription offer.\r\n\r\nThe final 18th-century attempt to bring the medical paper into existence was made by those of Warsaw environment. And in 1795 the one from beyond the medical circle, the printer and editor Tadeusz Poldlecki, only partially realised yet another medical enterprise. This was just the case when the editor announced subscription to the popular weekly periodical entitled „Medical Practice” („Praktyka Lekarska”) and repeatedly advertised it in the newspaper entitled „Warsaw and Foreign Correspondent” („Korespondent Warszawski i Zagraniczny”). But that advertising was of little benefit since the publication of the magazine finally came to an end as following the edition of its only and half-abridged first volume.\r\nThe discussed medical papers that were first recorded in Poland did not receive wide recognition of the readers of the time, being still insufficiently prepared to enjoy professional medical writings."]]]]]]]]]
