It is true, that the epidemiology and hygiene issues are present in hitherto literature of the subject, however a closer look at the studies shows that many elements have been presented too superficially, or even omitted. The research gaps are connected with individual cities, which did not live to see their own epidemiological descriptions, and also with not broad enough handling of the subject-matter, which manifests itself in usually frugal content-wise research questionnaires. The most well-researched centre of Royal Prussia in terms of hygiene and emidemiology is undoubtedly Gdańsk. Despite that, even in the case of Gdańsk, the state of the research should be regarded as unsatisfactory. The writings on two other big cities of Royal Prussia: Elbląg and Toruń, are much less extensive. Only compiling individual elements will allow for a comprehensive estimation of a real level of hygiene and epidemiological status in the cities of Royal Prussia, as well as the path of their modification by the modern society. The consecutive stages of its practical implementation were anthropological examinations, mass sterilization for eugenic reasons and the euthanasia programme. Racist trends started to rise at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, which resulted in creation of numerous racist and anti-Semitic works. The policy of negative eugenics was very diversified in the past, ranging from mass segregation in the United Stated through mass sterilization in Sweden to extermination of population in the Third Reich. Experiments into mass sterilization were performed during the war by Carl Clauberg and Horst Schumann, mainly in Auschwitz and Ravensbrück, to a limited extent in other camps. The longest eugenic programme was implemented in Sweden, which became the first country where racial hygiene acquired the status of official science and institutional base supported by the state. Compulsory sterilization procedures were performed in that country until the 1970s. The Scandinavian countries took up the most advanced pursuits of legalization of sterilization on the European continent. The final stage of implementation of the extermination programme was euthanasia, the aim of which was to kill people unworthy of living. The Euthanasia Action was code – named T – 4, later, when it was transferred to concentration camps, its code name was changed to 14 f 13. Johann Zander was a graduate of the Medical Faculty of the University of Koenigsberg, and thus a member of the barber-surgeons’ guild in Koenigsberg. The comparison of the places and times of carrying out the autopsies in various European countries, their courses, as well as the composition of medical and non-medical staff participating in them allow to conclude that this part of funeral ceremony was closely related to the royal propaganda and the tendencies to either show the king in the full majesty or to exploit the circumstances of his death for the sake of current political struggle (e.g. to create the white or black myth of royal reign). As regards the society, adjusting the Poles to the imposed model required the policy to be planned in advance. ‘A new morality man’ means a man devoted to the system, who implements orders of superiors faithfully, is blindly obedient and follows Marxism-Leninism ideology. It was relatively easy to gain such type of supporters in the case of individuals coming from lower classes, who were privileged at that time. However, it was more diffi cult to win over followers from intelligentsia. The study seeks to answer the question whether the then authorities succeeded in creating the new model of a man in the analysed period of time, at the example of students of Polish medical universities. Particularly much on this field Brothers of the Mercy made. Their other popular names were: Knight Hospitallers, Merciful Brothers of St. Jan Boży, Good Brothers and Hospital Brothers. They have been serving poor, suffering and skipped sick people running hospitals, nursing homes and pharmacies. The last ones provided medicines - for sick people staying within the monastery free of charge, but for people from the outside - behind the payment.\r\n\tA founder member of the Order of Knight Hospitallers was Jan Ciudad, born in 1495. He devoted himself entirely to the service for the Sick, living in poverty with the poorest. Due to his life full of acts of the mercy, he gained the God's nickname. Partners of Jan Boży continued an activity initiated by him, opening next hospitals, providing the care and the treatment for sick people.\r\n\tIn Poland the first hospital of Knight Hospitallers was founded in Cracow.
